What is ISLI?
The International Student Leadership Institute (ISLI) in an an annual international seminar about leadership, taught by student leaders to a new generation of young leaders. This program was founded in 1982 by the United States Department of Defense Schools (DoDDS) in the Region of South-Germany and it had the intention to provide instructions and training for students to achieve leadership skills. Throughout the years ISLI has become an institute where students of different European countries and the United States of America meet each other and learn about leadership in an international environment. The program is currently held at Oberwesel am Rhein in Germany.
The different aspects of leadership are taught through presentations and practical exercises inspired by The Student Leadership Challenge (3rd Ed., J. Kouzes and B. Posner). During the one week long Institute participants will partake in multiple social events which will encourage discussions, decision making and help form international bonds between students of different backgrounds.
